SUMMARY OF PROPOSED ECONOMY AND EFFICIENCY MEASURES FOR THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, January 5, 1981, 66 pages
This report proposed fourteen measures which, after implementation costs were absorbed, could save the state of Mississippi an estimated $23,213,377. The areas discussed were:
- Special Hotel Rates for State Employees
- Cost Control Task Force
- Interest on State Investments
- Employee Incentive Pay Program
- Purchasing Restrictions on State Vehicles
- Restrict Commuting in State Vehicles
- Employee Suggestion Program
- Construction of State Agency Offices
- Consolidated Bonding Program
- Surplus Property Office-Forms Management Program
- Long-Distance Telephone Usage Control System
- Productivity Improvement Program
- Energy Management Program
The report briefly explained each measure and provided a projection of income or cost savings if feasible. Where implementation of measures required changes in legislation, the report included proposed legislation in the appendixes.
